The Republicans are in the majority in the Senate and Moscow Mitch set this up to fail so he could blame Democrats. Republicans, despite their words, don’t want to change anything and don’t want to take the blame, either.
White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany has said the qualified immunity provision in the House Democrats’ bill “is a total and complete nonstarter".
Oh, right, Michael. The Senate bill would allow the Police to go on doing what they are already doing. So, the Dems blocking that bill has no real effect.
LOGICAL ERROR: Assumes – incorrectly – that the republican party claims is reform, actually is. LOGICAL ERROR assumes that Sr. Ramirez is not a GOP troll.
The call for and need for police reform isn’t new. Where was Obama (and Biden, I suppose) on this issue for 8 years, part of which when they had control of both the House and Senate?
Dems certainly don’t want to do anything that will give a win to the current administration, so nothing that comes from the republicans will be acceptable, even if it’s literally identical to dem demands. The republicans would do the same if the situation was reversed. Modern politics. Lovely, isn’t it?
You don’t get to claim police “reform” until you put forth real reform of the police. Why is it not obvious that we need less militarization of policing? And one heck of a lot more social services to do stuff the police are ill suited to do. We also desperately need more civilian oversight.
What a farce! The Repubs are only going through the motions of reform as usual, while real reform is in the Dem house. Perhaps with compromise between the House and Senate real reform can become law, but don’t hold your breath. The law and order prez probably won’t sign it.
Yes, once again, those dirty Democrats have gotten in the way of the Republicans doing nothing and calling it meaningful change. And that doesn’t take into account that the Democrats may be purposely opposing everything the President requests. Can you imagine the type of low down, dirty skunks that would publicly make such a declaration and then instruct their members of Congress to do such a thing. I’m sure Ramirez would never accept such behavior.
OMG Mikey!?!! Are you SERIOUSLY trying to put over the idea that the Republicans want police reform??? And are being stopped by the Democrats? I bet it’s nice in Mikeyland where problems don’t have to be dealt with, they just get blamed on the Democrats…pfffftt
Regardless any toothless reform being show ponyed around now the true red meat will appear after the election. Either way it goes the losers will pay dearly.
Another BS cartoon from Ramirez. The Republicans bill did absolutely nothing in regards to police reform. The Democrats bill at least has some teeth in it but still lacks a Nationwide database on Police Violence.
Typical liberal mob. “If we don’t like / approve, we’ll tear it down”. Never mind the historical significance. Law and order dictates that if you don’t like something, work towards change. But I should say thanks. The video of these Bernie Bros tearing everything down will make for a great DJT reelection ad.

what a great idea – booting the cops’ car so they can’t get around to shoot anymore defenseless civilians…
