My youngest daughter way back in grade school did a science project with an ant farm. I have to say they are amazing little creatures. We both learned a lot. I don’t step on them anymore!
If I didn’t have a headache this morning, I’d express my indignation at the intrusion of theology into this cartoon, but this will have to do until I have some coffee.
I don’t think it’s religious either. I think they were wondering if THEY are an ant hill. After all they prob don’t know alot about what’s outside their little world. Great cartoon!
Thanks for the kind words (and not so kind ones). I guess I just was never offended by others’ beliefs. Mostly because when I meet someone that believes different than me, I don’t perceive it as an attack or think that I’m somehow superior.
Plus, this one is very open ended, which is intentional. Always love to see what meaning people overlay on top of it.
Ace2MIck, I saw the strip when I read it last night as you did and did not see the possible religious aspect until pschearer pointed it out. Good job Brian, today’s strip can provoke the reader’s own personal interpretation.
Yes lets not get too involved in finding a meaning not there.
It is a comic.
With out being a sycophant I think it is both well written and drawn. Thanks Brian

Yes, consider the big picture. Howdy marg! Size is irrelevant, or so I keep trying to convince everyone!

But who watches over you, Sophie?
Hi, Marg!

Theology? I didn’t go there. I thought of the ending to Men in Black. We could be living in a locker in a bus station.

Shearer has the proverbial “coffee headache”.
The ants go marching two by two. Army ants march 20 by 20. They don’t care what is in their way.
Sophie and baby aren’t watching over them in the biblical sense. They are over them, watching. Makes quite a difference.

RCMinor: Stooping to name-calling, are we, you do-do-head?
(Is it that hard to notice how pschearer is actually spelled?)

JazzyBella I don’t step on ants either, and I’m hard pressed to even kill a fly. And I never kill a spider.

Absolutely lovely! Nicely done Brian!
Fellow Baby who watches over Sophie? Why Saint Francis of Assissi of course.
