Nonetheless (which is sorta like “nevermore,” but fits this narrative), Mr. Poe wrote his poem, and it was a success. The publisher went on to other “talent” lost to the pages of history. And they all lived morbidly ever after (or at least until Poe died aged 40 on the streets of Baltimore in dodgy circumstances).
I like Mr. Poe’s work, both stories and poems, very much….
