I count three main reasons that some Repubs are against our Libyan involvement (such as it is).
First, there is a knee-jerk partisan response: If Obama is for it, they’re against it. This position ignores the fact that even Obama can occasionally be right about something, even when he goes about it as half-@ssed as he can get away with. If it is the right thing to do, we should do it.
Second, there are some who just want to save money. This is not a bad thing…except in war. If we really need to go to war, money should be no object.
Third, there are some who justly proclaim their admiration and respect for our military and then conclude that we should never allow any of them to risk getting killed. Risking their lives is what the military is for! (I blame this attitude on some of the libertarian pols like Ron Paul, who are so opposed to government that they forget it has a valid purpose.)
What I want to know is, what has stopped us from dropping a Hellfire missile on Khaddafi? I suspect it is Obama’s general lack of guts. There is something to be said for electing Presidents with at least some military experience.
Ahhhhh, all is right again with the world. My favorite liberal has once again resumed his attacks on conservatives. Hey, here’s an idea, let’s take a look at the Hypocrisy of the liberal news media attacking Bush for attacking Iraq to remove Sadaam Husein saying that Quadafi must be removed. And that is an actual quote I heard on CNN just today.
You could make almost the same joke about leftwingers and how they are now in favor of going to “war” just because Obama is President and not Bush. We have hypocrisy on both sides
