I’ve always followed that investing advice but two years ago I realized we were due for a major downturn and that at my age I likely wouldn’t have enough years left for stocks to return to their previous highs and I cashed out. I’ve slept better and when covid hit I lost nothing. The interest on my deposits doesn’t cover inflation but the balance always rises.
