I umped local little league back in High School. One time with the pee wee level division, a pitch came in behind the kid, hit the bat which he never moved, and the ball dribbled about 20 feet away.. coming to rest directly on the third base line.

I took off my mask and waited, took about three or four seconds for the coaches to figure out the ball was in play __

Not to the dug-out, Spud. And not to the concessions stand. And not to Third base. You know what? Call in Gary and have him sub for you.

It will be the first time a pinch runner is used to get to first base.

Knowing Spud he’ll run around in circles hysterically waving his hands in the air. Hopefully the other team will be Mesmerized by this and forget to tag him out.
