“The New Adventures of Queen Victoria” did this recently. Since I am about 15 years behind in cell phone technology, I had to rely on the comments there to understand what was going on.
But one helpful individual posted the URLs that the digi-thingies translated to, which consisted of links to merchandising sites and to a webpage with the punchline.
If the i-blob here has meaning that someone could translate, I’d be grateful. (I’d also be grateful if someone could tell me what those e-splatters are really called.)
It’s a link to Brewster’s facebook page - www.facebook.com/brewsterrockit
www.comics.com/brewsterrockit has a different strip because some newspapers were afraid their readers wouldn’t understand the QR-code. So two versions of today’s strip was made available.
Those “e-splatters are 2-D barcodes. A few companies use them, like UPS and FEDEX, to contain more information than the simple UPC numbers in your typical 1-D barcode. No idea what this one says.
I’d never tried the QR reader app on a computer screen before. Kinda cool.
Also, I hope everyone here realizes the commenter “dr. mel” is Brewster’s creator Tim Rickard, which means he’s The Authority on what you see in the strip.
Thanks, All, for the help, esp. dr.mel, although his link to the other comics service is missing an underscore between the “brewster” and “rockit”. Add it in in your browser to avoid the dreaded 404 error. (To preserve an underscore when entering comments here they must be doubled.)

Looks like aliens are treating Earth like their own Facebook wall.

Hey, Bullwinkle, here’s a message in a postal code. What does it say Rocky?
“Brewster is a…” (insert commercial break here)

Coyoty is right (although it’s Tim, not aliens). Couldn’t we at least get a prize for going there?
Btw, we won’t talk about Coyoty’s cheap ploy for publicity.

It’s his Facebook page. Used my Droid phone, only use I’ve found for the camera :-)

Elementary my dear Watson. It says “Brewster and Pam will marry and hear the slither slather of many squids.” Either that of “Trump in 2012”.

It’s interesting that the comics.com site is running a different “Brewster Rockit” strip today. Both are dated 4/11. Wonder why…

Looks to me like the coding under the place on a lottery ticket that gets scratched off the lottery ticket to see if you’ve won, or not.

Actually, it looks like a poem in robot language; in fact, I think I can read the first line: “There once was a lady from Buckingham…”

It would be interesting to see what QR codes do as cellular automata.
