I now have the song “Right Field” by Peter, Paul and Mary running in my head:
Play-ing… Right field, it’s easy, you know.
You can be awkward and you can be slow.
That’s why I’m here in right field
Just watching the dandelions grow.
Sounds like a Left Back (in Changing Rooms) position in Football (Soccer if in USA)
I can relate, I was center field.
Ah… The important position of “left out”.
Reggie Jackson became famous for playing right field.
No, he said he’d make you the official team social distancer.
We used to call it “dozy” field
They’ll place you at “center object lesson”, Wil!
Maybe Coach will put him working the Hot Dog stand?
Or maybe he’ll become the waterboy next.
Did not see him tried as pitcher
Could be the next Dizzy Dean
Next to the concession stand?
I played right field first base for my 5th grade softball team!
At least he’s not a benchwarmer.
Here’s some right fielders the kid might be told about; Clemente, Aaron, Frank Robinson, Roger Maris, Carl Furillo; I know it had a stigma, until it became known that you put the guy with the best arm out there. So hang in kid.
Man that was a lot of talking just to tell us he sucks.
As it should be……. no trophy for attendance.
So if you’re out there, then who’s playing second base?
Manager? Ball boy?
