Once, when my daughters asked, I pulled over, stopped, and said, “Yup, get out”. We were in the middle of nowhere, nothing but prairie in sight. One of the girls said, “This isn’t the ‘there’ we meant, Dad”. I drove on and they didn’t ask again – on that trip.
When we traveled, my X would hold an atlas in her lap. When the boys would ask, she’d hold it up and point. “Here’s home. Here’s where we’re going. Here’s where we are now. We’ll get there about supper time.” And that quite satisfied them.
