For those who don’t know, Bill Buckner was the Red Sox first baseman who missed a routine groundball, which rolled between his legs, in the 1986 World Series. Stopping the ball and tagging first would have ended the 9th inning of Game 6 with the score tied 5-5 and allowed the Red Sox to get another chance to win the game and the World Series, but the error allowed the Mets to score the winning run. The Mets then went on the next night to win Game 7 and the 1986 Series.

Buckner was an example of the “Cubs Curse”, this was determined by which Series team had the most exCubs which guaranteed that they would lose.
