    See, I always thought an orchid was the primitive, instinctual nature of an above-ground goblin, and peony was what one did to soothe a jellyfish sting. I must be reading the wrong books.

    I also thought rose was multiple fights over an as-of-yet unnamed cause, and a carnation was a country filled with automobiles. And don’t get me started on tulips; I’ll never stop!

    Well, I think I had the same idea as Nathan, above… when it comes to “peony.”

    But, unfortunately I thought it had more to do with the restrooms being too far away when you need one.

    “Begonia!” is what an Irish witch says to get rid of you….

    “Violet” is a teeny instrument…

    “Primrose” was that very proper girl who disapproved of you in 4th grade.

    “Larkspur” is part of your outfit for bird-riding.

    “Marigold” was advice from my mother… but I didn’t.

    This is kinda fun.

    Great comic John, and excellent additions above. A few more:

    Dandelion – A large, fancy dressed cat

    Hyacinth – Greeting for Ms Lauper

    Aster – {will get me kicked off GoComics}

    Serious question: What’s the name for this kind of linguistic twist?
