Next up the Chiefs. UMass will have to change the Minuteman because it is racist, misogynist, and oppressive. Something as innocuous as the “Indians” which in no way is a slight is to be stripped away.
The perpetually looking to be offended society is just sad. And what makes it more confusing is that it is mostly white people speaking out loud because they THINK the majority of group X will or should be offended.
One silly question – have Native Americans been asked their opinion? Do they really think that the term Redskins is demeaning or offensive? If that’s the case, what about the Cleveland Indians – are they also dropping their name soon? It all seems ludicrous to me.
