Fortunately I don’t see a pugnacious, burly elderly gent with a fat ugly cigar standing around. A gentleman with an American mother and a noble father, who fought for Queen Victoria, and served the Crown over the years through the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. He was also quite a writer too.
He might shed some blood, sweat, and tears for the ignorance of his fellow English subjects in the history of the English people.
I don’t think there is an Englishman alive who doesn’t know the origin of that quotation. And I do not mean all the immigrants who have become citizens of the UK over the years.
I saw Winston Churchill’s funeral train pass through Oxford station in 1965 hauled by the steam locomotive number 34051 named after the famous statesman!
On the other hand my older brother Pete went down to Brighton on a motorcycle with one of his mates to participate in a beach punchup between the mods and the rockers, which became a tradition in Brighton.
Unfortunately his mate’s motor cycle collided with a lorry and they both went flying into the road and spent 2 weeks in hospital!

Well, much as he’d like to take credit for it, we know it wasn’t BoJo the Clown who said it. Even his right brain, Cominic Dummings, couldn’t come up with that catchy phrase.
I visited Scarborough 9 years ago and stayed in a huge hotel by the sea. Was only there for a couple of days. Don’t recall seeing any fighting on the beach. All I saw was a group of people playing sports.
It was blowing a gale here today so decided not to go to the beach. I prefer calmer days. It might be better tomorrow and then I’ll go.
Your two sons are very handsome. Can’t imagine how proud of them you are.
My avatar today is me after removing my French braids taken nearly 2 weeks ago. That’s how my hair is all wavy and flowing. Or “Flo”-ing. Number Six commented under the photo on Facebook and said “Lovely eyes” which gave me the idea for the title of the photo.

Fingers crossed the wind stops and the sun is out so I can go to the beach tomorrow, pal.

Didn’t help on the Channel Islands, there are still WW2 German gun emplacements and bunkers on them.

Today’s strip is further proof that we have a later Andy and Chalkie than the ones who served in World War II.
As Reg Smythe’s Andy once said, “The only war record that twit’s got is ‘Chattanooga Choo Choo’ by Glen Miller.”

On a BBC TV program(me) the British people voted him “The Greatest Of Them All”.
Good call, IMO.
