Everybody deserves some of the work and some of thee break time. I have noticed that if my spouse and I each do about 75% of the work, about 90% to 95% of it gets completed.
The smartest thing is to gather longitudinal observations of how the other person manages his/her living space and personal affairs before you shack up with them.
Growing up my mother had chore charts for us. We each had our own chores to take care of and then a rotating set that would change weekly. Sometimes we needed to be reminded, but they would be completed. I have the scars to prove it.
In this Carolyn Hax column the figure in the chair is out of work but is not willing to assume any additional home chores to relieve the spouse who is still working full time.
