A friend of mine was doing a standup routine at a comedy club, and it wasn’t going very well. Some woman started heckling him and the exchange between the two of them was funny as hell. After a while she ran out of stuff to say and quit. My friend went back to his jokes which weren’t getting many laughs. He shouts out, “Hey lady, where the hell are you now? You’re half my act!”
The best was at a local comedy club where the hecklers got heckled, it turned into a drunken brawl, and the cops/ambulances had to be called in. After about an hour, the show continued despite half the audience having been carted off.
You know, no one likes heckling, but hecklers could actually be doing you a favor if you think about it. I hope someday I will do stand up, people do tell me I am humorous (in a good way), but if someone ever heckles me, I will just say, “thank you for telling me how to improve my act and how to impress you better, if I succeed, it would be you who had a big part in that, so thank you greatly.” Of course, the woman here (I presume it is a woman) is heckling him, to be mean, but he can just ignore her and go on, or take her advice and win them over better, two sides to every coin.
