Robin’s gifts were enormous, and he shared them liberally with anyone who seemed interested. I saw him in the very early eighties in San Jose, California at the Center for Performing Arts. Forty years on, it still hurts when I remember the whole audience, including me, in pain holding our sides and gasping for breath from laughter. An extraordinary human being, he was kind, generous and self-deprecating. I had the joy to speak with him for a few minutes. When he died, I wept because a bright light had gone out in the world and, though I had had only that fifteen minute conversation, I felt (and still feel to some degree) that I had lost a life long profound friendship. Hope he’s at rest somewhere nice.

A sad end to a brilliant clown of comedy.
