Calvin in a uniform, I think that is a first for me.

Seems to me, traveling with a tiger ought to make Calvin a little more careful about keeping food on hand…

This a real early strip…Calvin doesn’t conform to anything now. The uniform has to go………..

You’ll be hungry within hours, Calvin. Hobbes………………minutes, now that he knows there’s no food stash!

Calvin may be safe since he may be a little more gamey than most little boys.

Ya know, never imagined Calvin in a scout uniform.

Maybe not, Lewreader, but I couldn’t imagine Calvin in a situation without comics for those boring moments.

Hard to believe Calvin was ever a Cub Scout.

I remember bringing comics to scout camp. That was pretty much all we did during the days, and at night we played capture the flag and goofed off around the campfire….

Calvin should be cautious, when Hobbes gets hungry!!

Hobbs, being that he’s a tiger, will eventually notice that there’s an easy meal close by, and Calvin, realizing this himself, will suddenly lose interest in his comics . . . probably.

Will everyone believe in Hobbes when they find Calvin INSIDE a stuffed tiger in the middle of the woods?

he will not eat calvin!!! how could u even think of that!

one needs to have a plan!

1st rule of survival in a crisis situation. Food. Calvin can’t survive on fuzzy terrycloth and styrofoam beads, but Hobbes has access to 2-3 days worth of juicy meat (if he rations it out properly).

Actually, it is the whole rest of the troop who is lost; not Calvin and Hobbes!

A boy and his tiger can not live on comics alone ,tuna,peanut butter etc would help in the short term.

Who needs food when you’ve got a backpack full of comic books to read?!

Watterson tried the cub scout idea for a few brief strips, then decided it didn’t really fit Calvin’s personality.

I can’t help but admire Hobbes. These comics are so primitive to Waterson’s later work, but they have all the spiriit of his later work. I can only admire that man.

Churchy once made sandwiches out of comics and peanut butter and jam. That’s all one could ever need for being lost in the woods.
