A little dance music, please….

Might take a little while to shake off those “sea legs.”

my mother in law told me when kid is asleep to vacuum and make noise so they will learn to sleep through anything cause I did not want to go rest of my life tip toeing around baby. Worked great. Son can sleep anywhere – even in a college dorm.

33 years later and I still find myself ‘swaying, and/or rocking’ when I’m caught in a long or slow que…

Seems all this baby does is cry and sleep.

My kids were like that for a while. :P

No wonder I was thin when I was a young mother!

I used to have to crawl out of my daughters room because she seemed to just know when I walked out. I think she slept with one eye open. lol

The old rock and roll still the best excersize.

Dr. Spock (whom we all followed in my baby days), said to let them cry it out and learn to soothe themselves.

I remember babysitting little Barry and his three older sisters. Barry never wanted to go to bed. One time I was swaying with Barry in my arms as he cried and struggled to get down. His sister came into the room to talk. We chatted about her nursery school friends and the dresses they wore and which knee socks she liked the best – just random stuff. Barry settled down to listen and I kept swaying, swaying, swaying. Before I knew it, he was asleep in my arms. This became my standard way of getting him to bed from then on. Swaying back and forth and boring girl talk. Barry is about 57 now.

This strip is a great advertisement for birth control.

I would’ve expected April to start screaming again.

You can always tell the mom of a baby in line at stores – she is the one swaying and rocking although she isn’t holding the baby at that time. So cute.

My mother says that new moms just always kinda bounce- it becomes ingrained and they start doing it without thinking about it….

Teething was the worst for fussiness and stressed parents. I felt like I was going to bop my kid once, but I had enough steam left to go outside and let myself cry it out. After my pity party, I ran back to pick up kiddo, and she was asleep. In another 10 seconds, I was too.
