It’s supposed to mean ‘proceed with caution and be prepared to stop’, unless you are a traffic engineer. THEN, a flashing yellow at a pedestrian crossing is supposed to mean ‘stop’ to drivers. Except nobody but traffic engineers knows this, so a little girl in Florida was killed while crossing in a marked pedestrian crossing. And the state still won’t change the flashing light to red…

As Beau Bridges said in the movie Starman, ‘red means stop, green means go, and yellow means go faster’.

I used to look at it as a challenge to get past before it turned red. Now I start slowing down in expectation it will go red before I get to the intersection.

Yeah, the go faster is a funny joke, but in reality it gets people hurt and sometimes killed.

Well that’s a joke that’s only been made about 6,402,147 times in history.

Welcome to Boston, where Green means go, Yellow means go a little faster, and Red means proceed with caution.

Yellow means Stop if you can safely do so.*

*Watch out for the guy behind you that is speeding up to run the red light, since he won’t make it before the light turns red.

My grandfather taught me to drive years and years ago.

“Red means stop, green means go, and yellow means go like hell before the light turns red” ;-))))

I don’t drive like that, but I do miss you, Pop.

Yeah, until you go to Europe and find that the signal turns yellow just before it turns green, so that you start to get the car tranny to go from clutched and into gear…
