I saw a bumper sticker, “I’ll trade you my handicapped pass for your legs.” The driver jumped out of his car and into a gym. Don’t know why tire-iron came to mind.
FWIW, how far I can walk varies from day to day. Thursday I made a needed trip to the laundry and store, and it is only this (Sunday) afternoon that I have been able to even sit before the computer or TV screen for more than about a couple of hours before having to return to bed. Still haven’t folded or put away the clothes or put away the groceries except for those which had to go into the refrigerator. Ironically, before I got sick I used to think nothing of walking for an hour or more pretty much every day that weather permitted, and frequently would set out and keep going for five or ten miles or so. So, yes, I have a “disabled” tag on my vehicle, and am on disability because with this I can’t work regularly or even make firm plans in advance to go out and do errands or visit friends or family because I may get sick(er) before then …

Sign doesn’t specify if handicap is physical or mental, just because they use a symbolic wheelchair.
