my mother must’ve felt the same way when my older brother (one year older in age than me, but two school years ahead) went to school and I was stuck with her and the two cats until I went to school
Maybe I’m part hermit, but I loved being a stay at home mom. Especially on nasty winter days when coping with the outside world just meant looking out at it.
My brother and sister were 15 and 10 years older than I. They had to leave the house at 7 a.m. to catch the school bus and I don’t think they ever knew that poor hardworking mommy hightailed it back to bed as soon as they were out the door, while I stayed up to watch Dave Garroway and J. Fred Muggs. And frequently “rested her eyes” while her stories [soaps] were on.

Of course April has to let loose on her shoulder in reaction to the yelling. Nothing’s funnier than baby blurpb.

I thought Mothers always had some kind of towel draped over their shoulder when holding a little one.

This is sad. Ellie seems to be yelling at the top of her lungs. Have a beer and relax, girl.

My hat is off to parents. The very last action in the fourth panel is a reminder to me that some of us are just not cut out for it.

What a drag it is getting old
Kids are different today
I hear only Elly say
Why can’t they be perfect like Lawrence?
Although she not really ill
There’s a little yellow pill
She goes running for the shelter of an Elly’s little helper
Doctor please, some more of these
A shortage for two week wholes?
Damn Canadian price controls!
What a drag it is getting old
I just made was not made for these times
I hear Elly whine
What happened to the Greatest Generation?
And if she takes more of those she will get an overdose
No more running for the shelter of an Elly’s little helper
They just helped you on your way, now your funeral John must pay.

Well, Elly started out in a good place, but it all went downhill from there.

Hey, at least you have baby and a dog.

Oh, what’s wrong, Elly? Don’t you have someone there on whom to DUMP ALL YOUR RESPONSIBILITY!?

Elly – don’t you know better than to hold a baby without a burp cloth?

Just think, some day this will be a happy memory of the good old times when things weren’t that messed up.

Heh. We’re both counting down the days when both kids get out of our house and out on their own!
