Once when I was a kid our grandparents left a gift for us before they left for Florida for the winter. It was wrapped in this gold wrapping paper that was so gorgeous we were sure what was inside had to be something really expensive. It turned out to only be a couple of bath towels. Nice but not what we were expecting.
