Being far too young to remember that piece of television excellence, I’ll rent it from Netflix right after I finish “The Buick Berle Show”, another broadcasting wonder from 1953. Funny, my mother hated Uncle Miltie and so does SHE. Can’t account for taste in women.
My first introduction to quality television was The Avengers & The Saint Uncle Milte and My Favorite Martian were about a decade before my time.
The 60’s were the time for television westerns though, but I didn’t and don’t generally watch westerns unless they star the Duke. Chuck looks nothing like the Duke.
JohnnyDiego, I stand corrected on My Favorite Martian. Either my parents never watched or it wasn’t on Canadian Television, but The Avengers were on Canadian Television in ‘63-‘64, I guarentee you. Honor Blackman, I believe, starred along side Patrick MacNee. Diana Rigg took over in the ‘65-‘66 season. At that time we picked up more British shows than American ones.
Those were SHOWS. We didn’t need sex to get us to watch! AND they could tell a story in half to one hour and not drrrrraaaaaaaggggggggg it on and on and on and…………..
Montana Lady…I remember that show! When I was a kid, our Brownie Troop went on the Sonny Fox show. It was the Blue Team against the Red Team…so much fun! After the show they gave each kid TONS of toys and games…it was very memorable.
Dry……..from what little I remember about the show, Bill Bixby was very nice, a real gentleman. He didn’t show off or act like a “star”. I was extremely nervous, but managed to win a bunch of prizes. I remember a very good carpet for one of our bedrooms, and some sunglasses, and oh yes, a years supply of canned peaches! Woo Hoo!
No wonder we have not been overrun. They ate them out there in cactus country… Arizona… huh? Where the tradition still lives on…. eat those aliens… there gooooddd…
I miss Bill Bixby. After MFM he was Mr. Eddie’s Father and then the Magician. And also the protagonist in the classic PBS production of Steambath. They didn’t even cut out the part where Valerie Perrine showed her ta ta’s!

^Probably started watching in ‘67. I do remember My Favorite Martian and The Avengers - but I can’t place The Saint. Guess I’ll have to look it up.

I was one of those lucky people who actually got on as a contestant in a game show (called PDQ). My game partner was Bill Bixby.

That’s some interesting trivia, Eldo. A very popular actor in his time.

Sandiego Thanks for supplying Ray Walston’s name. I couldn’t remember who played in My Favorite Martian but I loved that show.
However, I am sad to see such a fate befall a Martian. Good drawing though! I like the mountain faces.
