I was once in this situation. Someone way higher up in the multi national company I worked for made a huge mistake which cost the company a bunch of money. We were told that someone in our small group was going to be cut to pay for it. Not fair, DEFINITELY, was it done YES…to me. I was the last one hired and the one least likely to sue them as my department consisted of one black person, one gay male, one Asian, and an older female who was close to retirement and had a bundle of money invested in the company. My boss told me this two days before I was formally let go. I’m glad she explained it to me and also told me if it were up to her I’d be the one of any of them staying.
