Hmmmmm. I remember those drills from elementary school. But I’m 64 yrs old. I don’t think Gray is old enough to have this “reflex”. Still a cute cartoon, though.

At least he now knows he will be safe from a nuclear attack.

That left a lasting impression for certain but the poor kids today have it so much worse.

This is a true story:OUR “take cover” sign was the same as the recess bell. When it went off…I THOUGHT it was recess! (this was 2nd grade). I ran straight for the door to the playground. I was thrilled to be the first kid to the swing set!A teacher from another class room came outside and yelled, “Mike! Take cover! It’s NOT recess!”So I slowly walked back to my class room. As I opened the door, the “all clear” was sounded. I sat down at my desk, which was in the back row next to the door. Everyone emerged from their desks. I watched, and realized no one, not even my teacher, had been aware I was gone.

Never had to do this in the UK as a kid in the fifties, must have been an American thing. Rather futile really.

I knew a Vietnam vet that would not find this funny at all.
