Tried watching a movie shot in Scotland with Scot actors and actresses, the slang and the Scottish burr made it practical unwatchable , did not watch it all !

“The Seven Samori” was a black & white with while subtitles which disappeared against a white back ground. (>.<)

I always use Closed Captioning when watching Brit shows. Without it, I miss half the dialogue. And then I don’t understand the idioms, exclamations, and slang. (Thank goodness for the internet.)

i am hard of hearing and have used closed caption for past fourty years. those BBC mysteries are so clear to me as most of them are closed captioned (not the original Morse, though). my partner now appreciates these shows because she watches them closed captioned and she says it makes it easier listening to the accent

All you need is to learn some British idioms or put the words in the context in which they’re used.

BBC used to be better when they had Top Gear with Jeremy, James, and Richard.
