We, evil post-war pre-teens, took the trick or treat apples and pushed them into the exhaust pipes of parked cars. In the morning we would hear a few “bangs” in the neighborhood.

A friend got an onion wrapped in aluminum foil (thought it was a popcorn ball) and some bullion cubes…my mom suggested that maybe he was suppose to make soup!

Once upon a time, in small towns where everybody had known everybody forever, smart kids went late, when they’d run out of candy & started baking cookies.

My mom used to make popcorn balls to hand out. They were delicious. Haven’t thought about them in years. Had to stop, of course when rumors of tainted candy were rampant. Early 70s I think.

Actually I would have loved an envelope of Lipton’s Chicken noodle soup mix! ….my favorite as a kid… I would have loved it every day for lunch, if my mother wasn’t too lazy to make it…and I wasn’t too young to use the stove!
