Norm, don’t cut off your nose to spite your face. Your home has done nothing wrong. You on the other hand, are over-reacting to midlife crisis. You can’t ‘toss out the past,’ but you can accept what has been done, learn from your mistakes and move on. Let go of the hold the past has on you. Dwelling on it repeatedly keeps you stuck in it. Once you release those unpleasant emotions to the wind and start looking forward, your life will improve. Deal with things one day at a time. Put together a resume, apply for jobs in places where you may actually enjoy working and move forward. You can live quite happily alone. I’ve been happily divorced for 33 years now. I supported myself, laid back money for retirement, retired and now live comfortably with my pets. You can, too.
