LOVE that second panel! Perhaps everyone already knows, but stage makeup is applied heavily because without it faces look washed out. The audience is for the most part relatively far away, there are no closeups, and the lighting is intense, so the makeup needs to be bolder. Close up it looks awful, but from the audience perspective, it looks normal.
It is interesting to see local news crews makeup from home broadcasting. Our weather woman puts on makeup that looks horrible until the sun comes up, but her first broadcast is at 5:00 a.m., so whatareyougonnado?
I didn’t wear makeup in high school, so I was the designated makeover target whenever my classmates got bored on trips. I only allowed it a few times, but the last one… I only wish we’d had camera phones. They did a horrific job, used colors that were terrible with my skin tone, and overdid everything. When it was done, I reached over a seat and tapped my best buy friend on the shoulder. He took one glance at me and quite literally fell sideways off the seat laughing. It’s a shame we weren’t able to preserve it for posterity.

Well Heart, you can always find work in the make-up department of Universal Studios… or the DC Universe.

It’s a rare comic that makes me laugh audibly on first glance before even reading it. Well done, Steenz.

If Heart was trying to get her friends ready for Halloween, she did a good job.

I’m really glad I stuck with this through the change in cartoonists. This is her best one yet!

The makeup reminds me of Mimi from the Drew Carey show.
