    Some (cheaper) vacuums use the home-printer technique for making a profit. They sell you a filter holder for very little and then they $SELL you the filters for a ridiculously large price.

    On the other hand, most shop vacs have inexpensive and sometimes even washable filters. And no way to effectively clean rugs (not that the rug-beater vacs work all that well anyway).

    I take my air compressor and blow the filter clean; then put back in.

    I used to have a Toyota van. YouTube saved me a lot of money. Watching somebody fix something in real time is SO much better than reading instructions.

    I was able to fix my computer. All it took was an Internet video, $30 in special tools, a clean room environment…Oh, and 20 years IT experience.
