When i used to do Christmas shopping, 20 odd years ago, I always went late in the day on the 24th. Never had much money to spend and many stores would have discounted things for Boxing Day sales if you went out after 3 in the afternoon.
Men are always hard to buy for, and my dad’s birthday was January 2. Yeesh. There’s a limit to the number of bottles of wine and pairs of socks you can give a man who doesn’t smoke or wear neckties, so one year my sister and I – and our respective husbands – kit-bashed a dollhouse and turned it into a church. “Small Saints Episcopal Church, E. R. M. Parker, Vicar.” He loved it!
