Takes me back to the early ‘60s when I worked in gas stations after school. Full service meant cleaning ALL of the windows, inside and out, checking air pressure in all tires including the spare and filling as necessary, vacuuming the interior (!), checking and topping up as needed all fluid levels under the hood: oil, automatic transmission fluid, radiator coolant, brake fluid, battery water (they weren’t sealed back then), power steering fluid, and checking the condition of all belts. At least some of the fluids got topped up for free. All of this for purchasing ANY amount of gas, which was just $0.15/gallon.

Well, it looks like they’re still good for leaning on.

Those pumps died when gasoline went over $1 a gallon and they couldn’t set the meter. Someone came up with a temporary fix of billing by the liter.

I remember. I also remember getting my butt chewed out for pumping my own gas.
