A sign like that would save a lot of lives. When I was kid, riding my bicycle on an Air Force Base, I went through a stop sign. I heard THE VOICE say unto me “STOP!” It was only the Air Police with a P.A. speaker but it did impress me with safety for the rest of my life.
When you read a sign imperative, don’t assume it’s subjunctive: it might be declarative. Instead of implying “May it be so,” it could be saying “Off you go.”

Saw sign in Tuscon with the rider going head first over a cliff, the bike close behind him, followed by three or four various shaped rocks.

I recently broke four ribs when my bicycle decided to disappear from under me. True story. More or less.

I have a feeling that, very soon, Horace is going to be glad he’s wearing a bicycle helmet.
