The long pause is part of the setup for the punchline. Like multi-panel strips where one of the panels shows the characters just standing there looking at each other.
yes, this , although not particularly hilarious, is a giant step forward in the daily comics. the ‘Jack Benny-like’ pauses for effect and the wait for the punchline by using simple animation is innovative and well done
Is Cornered available on another website without the annoying jiggling? I would like to keep reading it if it would hold still. How about making two versions available on this website, one with jiggling and one without?-Cougar :{)
Hi, and thanks for all the feedback on the mini-gif animations. To answer CougarAllen, yes, Cornered is available on my own site, http://cornered.co.nr/. It’s not the same cartoon, but is updated daily, not animated, and they are some of my favorites.I used to do mini-animation about 10 years ago, then started creating Flash animations ( which were very cool, but very time consuming) and I had to give it up.This mini animations are me just trying to do something fun with the web-version. And I agree that some work better than others. At the same time, I’ve been challenging myself to see where each one would take me. From the feedback, some of you enjoy it and others don’t – to the point of not wanting to read Cornered anymore, Yikes! That was not my intention, so please stick around for a bit longer to see where this goes. My guess, I’ll get over the “look-what-I-can-do” phase and just pick a couple each week when I think a little movement really adds something. Thanks again for all your comments good and bad.I thought the little voices in my head were just mine. Turns out it’s been you folks all along. Could’ve saved a fortune in therapy.
Thank you, I’ll bookmark http://cornered.co.nr/ and I won’t give up on this site just yet. I do like Cornered; I just hate things jiggling at me….-Cougar :{)

Yeah, now we’re getting into really good uses for the animation.

Okay, that’s enough of the obnoxious animation for me. It’s been a run of many years but time to unsubscribe. Bye.

Sorry, I’ve given it several chances, but this semi-animated format isn’t working for me. Not even today.

I’ve had enough. Goodbye, Cornered. Take your silly unneeded animation and stuff it somewhere warm and smelly.

Hiding the punchline while making the reader wait for it is silly.
The animations really don’t add anything to the strip, and now detract from it.
Word to the wise: it may be whizbang, but don’t overdo it for its own sake.

not remotely worth the wait
