Company safety rules said to never push the sensor blades to hold the elevator doors open. But if you didn’t, you’d hardly ever get on, because otherwise the doors started closing even before everyone who was leaving got out. A simple safety light and sensor like on my garage door would handle that, but I haven’t seen one yet.
Ooops. Did I just give away a million dollar idea?
I will wait for the next elevator or take the stairs, if no one is one them. Of course, first I have decided I must be in the building for a very important reason. I politely offer to wait, no one has minded yet. I do it with a smile. And I press the buttons with my elbows.

My ophthalmologist’s office is on the 9th floor, the elevators have a two-person limit and also have a 3000 lb limit – fat people welcome!

Might as well. Civility is just about dead (read the political cartoons here).

Let’s flip a coin and go one at a time. Elevators are like … uh, guess I better say buses.
