Mr. Lustig I have a question. How many times do you need to rewrite or draw your strip until you feel it is write for public to see?
I am taking on-line classes one subject is basic English and part of this is paragraph’s to one rough draft essay to I hope the right essay. I have found out I don’t like that type of writing. I rather type what someone else has written.
Kab, occasionally I’ll think of a gag and I can use it as is. But I almost always do some rewriting. Sometimes a lot. I can’t give you a number, because it’s often a matter of a many tweaks that take place during anywhere from an hour to several hours.
There have been times when I’ve sent off a gag to GoComics a week or two ahead. And then, 15 minutes before the comic is supposed to go live, I finally get a better idea and quickly re-letter the gag and send it to Go’s FTP site–with just a minute or two to spare.

I saw a T-shirt like that once. It said “I’m my evil twin” I want one.

Do my First Amendment rights allow me to write what I want? Better not risk it. I would not want to upset the sensibilities of our Gentle Readers.

^Sure, unless it proves lack of sanity or intention to commit a crime. But as Saint Paul says, just because you can doesn’t mean it’s good to do.

To which Dr. Morgan says, “Why don’t I introduce you to my wife June? You could just take lessons from her.”

For me, re-writing is an ongoing process.
