That extra second waiting for them to light is one extra step in the dark. They never did make any with equivalent brightness to incandescent. The colors were awful, even the supposed “warmer” ones When you broke one, you practically needed a hazmat team to clean it up. I switched to LED-type and am perfectly happy.

The electronics in those CFL bulbs usually “burned out” before the bulb did.

Never did like fluorescent. Switched them out as soon as LED’s became viable. Unfortunately I’m still a dim bulb.
