Babies are so grabby. It’s the one thing I don’t love about them, especially because I wear glasses

As much as my brother’s family lives in New Jersey and I in Washington, I’m kind of out of practice holding a baby. At least — as a head’s up — I’ll be going to NJ later this week where I’ll get retrained.

You would think Annie would be a natural with babies. With her short hair, one of the main things that babies grab is already out of reach.

At that stage, I don’t enjoy babies up until they are around 3. They require constant supervision because they move fast and grab everything they see, They wear out the adults. My grandson is 5 and I enjoy him and don’t mind having him over for an overnight stay. My 19 month old granddaughter? No thank you. She can stay with mommy and daddy,

One time, my sister & her family were visiting. She had a baby daughter. My husband had never held a baby before, so I guided him. He held her facing him. She looked up at him, smiled, then FWUMP hit her head on his chest; she then leaned back against his hand again, smiled up at him, and FWUMP again. My husband didn’t know what to think. My sister told him that the baby liked him.

Baby-foo is strong. We often forget that cute can still hurt.

My son would eat one pound of food, then crap out three pounds of poop. Just how the hell does that happen?? Babies are the worst.

Babies love to explore and learn about the world around them. Sometimes that world is the person holding them with bright shiny things attached to their face. I remember leaving off the earrings and glasses when holding my son. Safety first both for him and for me.

The worst is when they are in your lap and smack you right in the mouth with the back of their head.

When I was a baby, my dad and I were in a car, on our way to see his parents. This was before baby car seats, even before seat belts. Dad was in the passenger seat, holding me. I grabbed his eyeglasses, and before he knew it, I threw the eyeglasses out through an open window.
