The cap was almost ubiquitous in the second half of the 1950s thanks to the insanely wild popularity of Walt Disney’s Davy Crockett TV shows. The theme song was a number one on the Billboard charts.

The revenue for the completion of Disneyland came, in large part, from the show and its licensed products.

I remember Davy Crockett hats being fairly common in the mid 1960s, also. DANIEL BOONE hitting the airwaves in 1964 probably had something to do with it.

They were very popular – at first the older boys wore them. But as the practice worked it’s way down to smaller kids, the older ones gave up on them.

Here comes that new girl, Sluggo. Be ready to tip your cat.
