National Fire Prevention Week is the second week of October when we’d have the annual fire drill. I dreamed every year that THIS would be the week the drill would go live and no more school!
I had never heard that scissors attract lightning, so I did some research. Safety for the Child: A Practical Guide for Home and School, written in 1921, has a section on “Indoor Protection from Lightning” that says, “There is no danger in handling small metallic objects , such as scissors and knives. They will not attract lightning.” So at one point there was a superstitious belief that any metal object could attract lightning.
