As my grandma from Kentucky would exclaim, “Pawn my word!” (At least that’s how I heard it — more properly written, “’Pon my word!”)

No idea why I read the pawn shop owner’s lines in Frank Nelson’s voice. I guess he vaguely reminded me of him in the last panel, albeit a bald version. If only Bushmiller had added a long “Yeeessss?” to the dialogue, it would’ve been perfect.

Too bad. She watched thieves carry away all the cash and merchandise.

And Ernie left a pile of three rocks for Nancy to sit on while she enjoys her three scoops.

When he and his two bald brothers stand under the sign, passers-by think they’re seeing double.

Doesn’t look very secure. And never see pawn shops around anymore.

Wonder why Nancy and the Pawn Shop owner seem so well acquainted. Does Fritzi have frequent cash flow problems?
