Oh Sluggo is inspired alright. Gonna take another nap.

I find the use of the term “close-up” to be a peculiar borrowing of terminology commonly found in relation to photography and camera lenses.

Glass in a magnifying glass is a different order of glass than a camera lens but the strip suggests that the term “close-up” is part of magnifying glass culture as well as camera culture and technology.

Perhaps such were the ways of the term “close-up” in the early 1950s.

I was born in 1943 and I recollect “close-up” being specific to cinematography and photography.

Yeesh! Looks like the cute chubby little girl in the Blind Melon video took a dark turn in life.

I like the look on Sluggo’s face just before the final panel. It sets up the joke.
