This comic is for the birds because Sluggo must be stork raving mad. I know, I know… Father’s Day has come and gone. Last Sunday would’ve been a golden opportunity for me to make bad dad jokes involving mocking birds.

There is a scene in the Tex Avery classic cartoon “Field and Scream” that echoes the situation here. The difference is that the “wader” is a long-legged fisherman and not a bird.

Amazing things today – house in background changes from round roof to gabled, and three rocks appear on shore of pond.

That could leave him bittern with egrets.

Fell for the whole “egret in the lake” bit, huh, Sluggo?

Still waters run deep Sluggo.

Dat Sluggo didn’t test the water first. Oy

Oops.

Don’t “bird knees” bend the other way…..?

Dat boid really fooled Sluggo.

She’s upset, but not enough to jump in and rescue him.
