Our D.I. in basic training would count reps upward for a while, then repeat the same number for several reps, then start counting backwards, then forwards, then start all over, so a promised 20 reps would turn into an easy 40 or 50. But it turned me into the Greek god I am today. (Well, I was for several years.)

He should have started with going for short speed-walks, until he do them without getting winded. Joining a group just pushes some people to go beyond their ability, into unsafe heart-rates. Always clear fitness programs with your doctor.

Um….how do you get a four-count with jumping jacks? I’ve always known them to be “one, one; one, two; one, three”, etc. I mean, it’s up and down; there are no other steps to the exercise.
