It should be interesting to see an extended story that involves both a character like Boog who ages in real time and Rufus and Joel who do not. Also, what do we know about Hoogy’s parents and, for that part, Rover’s birth parents and how he came to be adopted by Clovia and Slim?

Actually you can find that out: one of the only collections of Dick Moores’ tenure on this strip deals with how Slim and Clovia came to adopt Rover. I am a HUGE fan of Moores, and Rover’s introduction was a late high point to a distinguished career. It turns up on eBay a lot.

I think either Boog or Joel have met their match.

Boog may well return home with a different set of language skills and ideals for his mother and teacher to help correct.
