I used to think that the first line of the MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW theme song was, “Who can turn the world down with a smile?” And I actually prefer that version!

I had no glasses between fifth grade and I think two years after high school graduation (didn’t use contact lenses).

That’s the first sentence of the book, but he’s got it open to the middle. What madness is this?

I’ve worn glasses most of my life so not bad there. Change the words to hearing aids…….Strange thing is I just can’t bring myself to admit I cant hear. I’ve lost my hair and it doesn’t bother me a bit, but to admit to poor hearing…..Nah, Not me.It’s worse now with everyone wearing a mask because I have grown adept to reading lips!

I spent $4k of HSA money on LASIK, trimmed them to one meter and can read without glasses.

Too bad they don’t have a similar surgery for ears like Lasik for eyes. I’d rather spend 6K for that than for hearing aids that get lost, damaged, or fail.

Back when i was teenager I got my music on a clock radio, accounting for some of the really lyrics I heard. These days my ears do that all by themselves.

Just a thought. When Helen Keller was asked if she could have have one sense restored, which would it be, she chose to hear rather than to see. Possibly her reasoning was that loss of sight cuts you off from THINGS, while loss of hearing cuts you off from PEOPLE.
