Watching clouds of seagulls off the stern of a lobster boat, as it is coming in is quite a sight. I have also seen a seagull grab and fight for a mackerel that was on someone’s fishing line.
At my house it works this way with dogs, too. Before the went deaf in their old age, our Corgis could hear a chip bag, or the like, opening anywhere in the house. no matter where they were.
Chips are my kryptonite. Oh, and cheese. And beer. And chocolate. And comic books. And … actually, it might be easier to list what’s NOT my kryptonite.
I remember a cartoon that often featured a character opening a bag of crisps and another character materialising out of thin asking whether they needed help with the bag. Can anyone remember the title?
I used to ride the ferry from San Rafael to San Francisco once a week. There was always someone, usually a tourist, who thought they could feed one seagull from the back of the ship. Of course, it quickly turned into a version of Hitchcock’s “The Birds”, as scores of screaming seagulls followed the ship for miles.
i use to buy lots of loaves of bread and tear it into pieces and go to the beach and feed the seagulls. it was so cool to see them hover overhead and catch a piece when i threw it up in the air. some would even dive bomb to catch a piece. something everyone should do sometime. you will be amaed how entertaining it can be!
This would’ve been hilarious even without Spud because anyone who’s ever been to the beach knows how true to real life this is. But Spud’s face amid the seagulls puts it way over-the-top funny. LOL LOL LOL!

Open the bag before you get to the pier. you might have a chance at a few chips before the invasion.

Gee, I don’t see the usual seagull . . . the one that appears in a little panel someplace . .

Who wants to bet that Spud is going to get those chips, and not the seagulls? I would risk all my money on that.

Cool watching the clouds getting more ominous over the sequence of panels.

Is this why he’s called Spud? An unnatural attraction to potato chips?
