Someone should get Gracie together with Pasquale from “Rose is Rose” — they can support each other through the end-of-school-year blues.

I’m glad I’m not in school — seeing all the kids talk about the impending end of the school year in the American comics must be depressing to Canadian kids, who have over a month of school left!

^My kids have a month of school left, too. It all depends on which state you live in.

What is depressing is the idea that we think we can provide a decent education by giving a three-month hiatus every year.

Jason Fox could commiserate, too.Summer vacation is unnecessary now in a non-agrarian society. Its purpose was to allow kids to help their families or friends’ families on their farms, but now the family farm is rare. It’s still useful for letting families take vacations together, though. Unless they’re the Griswold family.

Hear, hear, QuiteDragon! That nine-month system derives from a farm-based economy, which no longer applies to the vast majority of students today.
