The anger expressed at Lucy here often surprises me. Growing up with Peanuts, I didn’t have bad feelings about Lucy. Her character was extreme, and that’s where the humor came from. How would she top her Lucy-ness next time?
Tampa Fanatic, trust me on this. When this strip was written, your remark would have been offensive.
Even now, people not mesmerized by the media realize that if there were a gene for homosexuality, it would eliminate itself from the population by its very nature.
If anyone were born as a genetically obligate homosexual, he or she would not do that which is necessary to produce genetic successors (children), and so that gene would not be passed on to the next generation. This shows why people are not born as obligate homosexuals. On the other hand, people are highly suggestible, as noted in the saying, ’There’s a sucker born every minute’, and imprinting works in more species than ours, so environmental mechanisms for making homosexuals do exist.
That said, it is sad that parents do not act to keep the homosexuals from recruiting their children, either overtly, or by the power of suggestion, or by media stories making it seem ‘glamorous’.
Why? Because your biological children are your genetic successors. If you have no children, you get a Darwin Award and do not contribute to the gene pool of the future. You become extinct.
If you have biological offspring, but let them be recruited by homosexuals, so that your offspring do not have offspring, again you get a Darwin Award, just the same as if you had no children in the first place.
Picture a young couple with a child who are hit by a drugged driver on the highway. Suppose the parents are killed, but the child survives in an orphanage. If that child is adopted by homosexual ‘parents’, and the child learns what he lives and becomes a homosexual in that environment, the biological parents have been killed again.
Their genes do not get passed on, and they become extinct just as if their child had not lived. In this case, the society that permitted the adoption performed the final death blow.
This is just the biological reality hidden beneath the media fantasies.
