Must every activity for children be structured and rule-based? Whatever happend to having free-form fun?

Some people just have to suck the joy and fun and magic out of life.

Be an Independent League, Charlie Brown. That way you can do your own thing. And they, the other leagues, can jump on a frozen pond.

Reminds me of when my grade school had snow sculpture contests. They made more than just snowmen. There were snow forts, and even a snow Volkswagen.

Calvin’s snowmen have finally caught the attention of some concerned adults.

Remembering that these were written long before any kids today were born, this is a boomer issue. Or to be precise, more likely an issue of the Greatest Generation since they were the ones who created all these leagues and turned fun into competition. Frankly, it’s turning everything into competition that has ruined so much of society.

And this is from the early 70s! We were warned about the helicopter parenting syndrome just beginning. Now the almighty State plays a part: free-range-parenting was not a term; it was a reality.

Some things should be done solely for the purpose of doing them. Take life, for example.

What about snow angels, CB?

Well, it snowed in November for this Peanuts Snowman arc.

Moral guardians. They’re always ruining our fun.

I could see this happening in the near future. Just like that story with the kid that got in trouble with the cops for gasp selling lemonade without a permit??!! Sigh miss the simplicity of life

Don’t say Schulz didn’t warn us about micro-managed childhood.

When it was a good snow-packing day, I loved my snow block maker. I always wanted to build a real igloo. Never got quite the hang of the domed roof. It had nice walls, though.

Might as well. We pay grown men and women millions to play kids games and call them heros.

Adults can spoil a lot of things.
